Our Story
BOMBFROG® is an independent watch brand, founded in 2011 by former mine clearance diver Dirk Assmann. That background is rare in the watch world, and it shapes our standards: uncompromising function, real durability, and clear legibility.
BOMBFROG® grew out of real-world practice, where gear has to work rather than look good. From 30 years of service and a passion for watch technology came a clear goal: to build dive watches reduced to the essentials that deliver exactly when conditions get demanding.
Whether underwater, in the air, or under time pressure: a watch is more than a timekeeper. It is a piece of equipment, a tool you can rely on. That is exactly what we develop our BOMBFROG® watches for.
Rooted in our tradition and background, our first series were aimed at members of special forces units in the German Armed Forces and the police. Today our watches are worn by people who combine a sense of adventure, a passion for technology, and high standards for quality and design.
Maximum Precision
My passion for watches and diving began at 15, sparked by my first dive watch, a Citizen Aqualand. Ever since, I have been fascinated by how precision can hold up reliably even under extreme conditions.
During my time in the German Armed Forces, I gained experience as a mine clearance diver, Einzelkämpfer (German Army lone fighter), paratrooper, and EOD/IED operator, which now feeds directly into the development of our BOMBFROG® watches.
BOMBFROG® has combined more than 30 years of diving practice, including military diving, with enthusiasm for watch technology: robust, clear timepieces that perform in everyday life just as well as in the field. Precise, functional, minimalist, and made for situations where you have to rely on your gear.
